iPhone storage

It’s time to clean up if you’re an Apple iPhone user who’s running out of space. Here are some storage-space-freeing ideas for Apple iPhone users in India.

We all see how people beg for help saving space on their iPhones. We all know that this is a job that takes time, patience, and work. And if you’re not careful, you can quickly run out of space on an iPhone. Even with a 128GB iPhone, we can see that half of the storage capacity has already been consumed. And some people do not devote much time to performing a monthly data clean on the majority of their devices. So here are some useful tips on how to clear iPhone storage to get free space.

First, let’s look at how to see how much storage space you have remaining.

To access iPhone storage, go to Settings>General>iPhone storage.

The iPhone will provide a breakdown of how much storage space is remaining on your iPhone after a few seconds. On my device, for example, over 66GB of data has been consumed out of a total of 128GB. You can also check the breakdown, which indicates how much storage each app takes up.

Usually, apps take up the majority of storage space on iPhones, followed by media files and iOS. Photos aren’t a big deal because we can back them up with iCloud.

Before that, there’s a ‘Recommendations’ option that says you should ‘Review Downloaded Videos.’ You will be taken to your downloaded videos, and Apple recommends you upload some to the cloud to save up to 1GB of storage.

Below you can see how much data each app consumes on my computer.

So, how does one go about clearing all of this iPhone storage? Here are some tips for iPhone free up space

Firstly Clear your WhatsApp data:

If you’re a member of many WhatsApp groups, such as school, college, parenthood, or RWA, you’re likely to have a lot of unread messages and videos/photos clogging up your phone’s storage. For many iPhone users, especially in India, clearing up your WhatsApp space is critical, as we rely heavily on this app for our everyday communication.

To view how much data WhatsApp has consumed, go to Settings and touch on WhatsApp. Don’t be surprised if it’s in the double digits, especially if you’re involved in a lot of active groups.

Go to WhatsApp>Settings>Storage and Data>Manage Storage after that. WhatsApp will display the amount of space it takes up. ‘Review and Delete Items’ is located at the very top of the page. This covers files that are more than 5MB in size. Simply erase most of them, and these will almost certainly be videos.

Then you can check each chat individually and how much space it takes up on your phone. By tapping on each chat, you’ll be able to see all of the stuff that you’ll most likely need to delete. Remember that films and photographs aren’t the only things that take up space; many PDF files do as well. You should have some additional free space on your device now that you’ve eliminated some of these films, photographs, and files.

You also have the option of backing up all of these images before deleting them. Simply ensure that the ‘Include Videos’ option is enabled in the Chat backup. Simply turn off ‘Save to Camera Roll’ in the WhatsApp settings to prevent transmitted movies and photographs from ending up in your camera roll.

Cleaning out your Mail app:

If you’ve signed in to your iPhone’s Mail app, there’s a good possibility you’ve downloaded a bunch of unopened emails that are eating up space. You can launch the Mail app, go to Edit for Inbox, and delete any unwanted emails.

Make care to clean the trash can as well. By changing the option from Fetch to Manual, you can limit the number of times data is fetched for the email accounts. Scroll down to Mail>Accounts>Fetch New Data in the Settings app. You may now choose whether each account’s push function is automatic (Push), manual (Manual), or fetch (Fetch).

Clear up data from the Safari browser:

Safari and Chrome, among other web browser apps, tend to save a lot of temporary data on your iPhone. Even if it isn’t much, a half-gigabyte counts. Simply go to Safari under the iPhone Storage section of Settings. Remove all website data by tapping on Website data. This will remove all temporary cache, allowing you to save some space once more.

Activate the iCloud backup feature:

If you haven’t done so already, purchase some additional iCloud online storage space and begin backing up your photographs and movies to the cloud. Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, and iCloud+ storage are all included in the ‘Apple One’ plan. Individual plans start at Rs 195 per month and include 50GB of cloud storage. The Family plan is Rs 365 a month and includes 200GB of cloud storage that you can share with up to 5 other people.

Remember that you can use iCloud to back up all of your photographs, movies, and iPhone data. Simply open the Settings app and hit the name that appears at the top. This should reveal information about your Apple ID, subscriptions, and other items.

Simply touch on iCloud to discover how much of your iCloud storage space is presently consumed. Make sure your device’s Photos and iCloud Backup are turned on. This will verify that all of your older images are backed up to the Cloud and that there is enough space on your computer. On the device, only optimized versions are saved.

Videos and podcasts that have been downloaded:

If you listen to a lot of podcasts or download a lot of stuff from Netflix or other streaming applications, you could notice that they’re taking up a lot of storage space. ‘Review Downloaded Videos’ is an option in the iPhone storage settings. If you notice any films like this, simply delete them from the Settings menu.

If you notice any movies similar to this, you can simply remove them through the Settings app. Simply hit on edit, and you’ll be given the option to delete the videos.

You can also uninstall all those downloaded apps from Settings for the Apple Podcasts app. Simply go to the Storage settings and touch on the Podcasts app to check how much space each episode takes up.

When you tap Edit, you’ll get a menu where you can eliminate some of these episodes. To make things easier and make free space, you can delete all episodes.

Remove any app you aren’t using:

This is a convenient approach to free up space in the iPhone without losing app data. In the iPhone Storage settings, simply tap on any app to get an option to Offload the app. The app’s storage will be freed up by Apple, but the papers and data will be kept. When you reinstall the apps, it will also restore your data. Alternatively, you may simply uninstall all of the unnecessary apps you’ve downloaded but never used. Although this may not appear to be a large amount, many iPhone apps are in the 100MB and higher range. And if you’re not utilizing them, all of this adds up to a lot of information.

Messages should be deleted:

If you haven’t cleaned out your Messages in a long time, they’re probably taking up a lot of space on your iPhone. You may receive a large number of promotional messages, which will appear under the Promotions tab or Transaction Alerts. If you’ve never opened these, you’re likely to have triple-digit messages. It may take some time and effort to clear and delete items, but it is the greatest way to free up space.
