Windows 11 in Advanced Form

 Win­dows 11 Insiders. Using Microsoft Teams, we are starting to roll out new Windows 11 consumer experiences today to bring you closer to the people you care about, your friends and family. This involves a sleek new Chat flyout directly from the taskbar, as well as a whole team’s computing experience designed for improved reliability and the Windows 11 design language. With Microsoft Teams, you can stay in touch with the people you care about through chats and video calls from the comfort of your Windows 11 PC, even if they can engage from any gadget: computer, mobile, or even an internet browser.

Before learning the set-up of Chat in window 11, you need to understand the difference between Chit-Chat and teams. There is a lot of chaos about the two though these are two sides of a single coin. 

Difference between chats and teams. 

Teams enable you to communicate with members of your department or a specific group that, in general, maybe having a variety of conversations. Users can create channels within Teams, which are essentially more minor conversations with a specific focus.

Chats are typically used for one-on-one or minor group messages.

You would start a chat if you wanted to ask one person or a specific group of people questions.

In general, shorter-term or day-to-day conversations should use the chat/group function rather than the team function.

Chat in Windows 11

Microsoft experimented with the idea of native Chit-Chat in Windows 10 with the Skype-inspired My People menu but later dropped it. Microsoft is integrating Chit-Chat (a more streamlined name for Microsoft Teams) on the taskbar in the upcoming Windows 11. Here’s how to install and activate Chat in Windows 11. Skype is no longer included in Win­dows 11 default app package. Microsoft Teams is here to take the place of Skype on Windows. Microsoft Teams adds flavor to Chit-Chat. Let’s started. 

Location of Chit-Chat in Win­dows 11

After installing Windows 11 on your computer with compatible hardware, you will notice the Chat icon on the taskbar, right next to the Windows 11 widget menu. When you click on it, Chit-Chat appears to provide you with contact suggestions. Before we get into how to use Chat on Windows 11, it’s essential to understand the distinction between Chit-Chat and the native Microsoft Teams app on Windows 11.

As you know, Microsoft Teams is a full-featured Effective communication app that includes voice/video calling and a plethora of other features. Although Microsoft Teams power Chit-Chat, it is not a stripped-down version of Teams.

Both Chat and Microsoft Teams are special services aimed at different types of users. Chat is aimed at average users, whereas Teams is geared toward businesses.

Your Microsoft Teams app conversations will kept in the same app. They will not be able to communicate in  Chit-Chat. You can sync your Skype or Outlook contacts with the Chat app and join the platform straightforwardly. Likewise, your Chat conversations will not be visible in Microsoft Teams. It’s becoming a little perplexing. It will be interesting to see how Microsoft plans to distinguish the difference between both products further in the future.

How to set up a chat 

While Microsoft claims that Chit-Chat is for consumers, the Team’s branding will be confusing when you sign up for the service.

The name Teams implies that it is intended for group chats, which is not the case. We’ll see how Microsoft clears up the misunderstanding for average users. However, once Windows 11 is widely available, Microsoft may change its name.

There are quick and straightforward steps to do it. These are even very simple and short. 

The process of setting up Chit-Chat goes through these steps, and the number one is. 

1. The Chat icon is located directly on the taskbar in Windows 11. This you must have seen till the time you have installed window 11. 
2. When you open it, you will see the button ‘Get started’ click on that. 
3. Enter your first and last name and sync your Skype and Outlook contacts. You are, in essence, creating a Microsoft Teams account.
4. This will lead you to click on ‘Let’s go.’ 

In a few moments, the Chat app will pull people from the Teams app. You can initiate a conversation with any contact by clicking on their name. 

Key features of Chit-Chat

You are going to appreciate these features a lot in Chit-Chat. These are exciting features of Chit-Chat in the Microsoft team. This makes you able to do the following:

Text framing –

To customize the text, users can use Bold, Italic, Underline, Highlighter, and other formatting tools.

Attach Media-

You can upload media from your computer to communicate by clicking the little pin icon at the bottom. Unfortunately, there is no way to integrate files from OneDrive or Google Drive.

Send emojis and GIFs.-

Do you want to have some fun while conversing in Chit-Chat? The app includes an emoji and GIF panel that allows you to express yourself without saying anything.

So these are some excellent features of window 11 chat. However, chats are still in their early stages of development and testing. Things could change in the future. However, we do not anticipate a rapid increase in the number of new features.

Microsoft did provide email assimilation with both the Skype-powered My People add-on. The new Chit-Chat, on the other hand, is at best rudimentary. We can only hope that a similar feature will added in long-term Chat updates. And in the meantime, it’s clear why Microsoft wants a messaging app that looks the same as one for software developers. Whereas the similarity in color tones and interface would be ideal, it could also confuse some users.

Provided that Win­dows 11 is now in beta as of August 2021, things could change whenever the final draft of Chit-Chat is launched. So now is an excellent time to provide feedback.
